WOMEN IN NEON: PART IV

Loveland Museum, Loveland CO
January – April 2020

Women in Neon: Part III was presented at the Loveland Museum as a national survey of women artists working with neon, bringing together practitioners whose work spans sculpture, installation, and spatial form. Centering artists who bend their own glass, the exhibition emphasized neon as a contemporary studio practice shaped by skill, lineage, and lived experience.

The exhibition featured works by Julia Bickerstaff, Sarah Blood, Dani Bonnet, Alleson Buchanan, Eve DeHaan, Teresa Escobar, Carissa Grace, Eve Hoyt, Kate Hush, Danielle James, Sharon Keshishian, Kacie Lees, Stephanie Sara Lifshutz, Camille MacRae, Leticia Maldonado, Rebecca Mason, Kamila Mróz, Amy Palms, Meryl Pataky, Shawna Peterson, Linda Sue Price, Lily Reeves, Jessica Krichelle Rojas, Harriet Schwarzrock, Olivia Steele, and Megan Stelljes, and welcomed four artists new to the She Bends network: Carissa Grace (New York), Jessica Krichelle Rojas (Los Angeles), Julia Bickerstaff (England), and Alleson Buchanan (Seattle).

Public programming included live neon bending demonstrations, a panel discussion, and a screening of Las Vegas Bender featuring Leticia Maldonado, with conversations addressing neon’s history, contemporary practice, and questions of inclusivity and sustainability. A highlight of the exhibition was the gathering of 13 artists who traveled to participate in installation, programming, and community-building, reinforcing the importance of mentorship and shared lineage within the field.

She Bends / Women in Neon II was generously supported by Topo Chico.
