WOMEN IN NEON: CALIFORNIA

Timbuk2, San Francisco CA
November 2019

She Bends at Timbuk2 marked the organization’s second San Francisco presentation, hosted by Timbuk2 and supported by Topo Chico. The exhibition featured a select group of California-based She Bends artists and reflected the project’s pop-up, community-centered approach to programming.

In addition to the exhibition, She Bends hosted an intimate Women in Craft salon dinner, with culinary contributions by Korean American chef Haejin Chun (The Big Bad Wolf). The evening created space for conversation around creativity, self-worth, and the structural barriers artists navigate within craft and cultural fields.

The exhibition opened to the public with live neon bending demonstrations and music by B-Side Brujas, inviting audiences into the physical process of working with glass and fire. Together, these programs extended the exhibition beyond display, emphasizing shared experience, dialogue, and access to the craft.
